I’ve just started reading How to be Free by Tom Hodgekinson which is about anarchy, and living a life of idle, beautiful merriment. It’s been giving me a spring in my step.
“Career is just posh slavery. Career is an institutionalized putting-off, a paradise deferred”
That’s how I’ve been feeling this year – that I’ve been putting off feeling like I’ve arrived, paradise deferred. His point is not to strive for some Puritan ideal of self-betterment, but to just keep on engaging in something that brings you joy. Basically there is no ‘there’ to arrive at, you can just do the thing you love and be happy. Sod the ‘career’.

IWaaaa!!! Am ready and full up of ideas, and ready to burst with them. Mostly because I am in the middle of making a THINKING HAT, which is increasing my joy and exuberance exponentialy (word of the moment). But you can’t see a picture of it, no, not yet, not until it is finished. Which will be TOMORROW!!!!!!!!
Until then, I have to assert that today I have discovered that magic is real and true and alive in physical form today on this planet. Behold the FLYING FISH, my new favourite animal, second only to flying squirrells, maybe.
Yes, yes, yes, I have so much to SHARE!

This is the word that the dictionary did not recognise. In fact MANY dictionaries did not. But they were WRONG.
snicket, snicket, snicket.

I have been thinking for a while about words, and collecting them when I hear or say one that is excellent. I’ve wanted a mini blog on the side of this blog to show my word of the moment, but can’t find such a thing yet, so I have decided to just post them anyway.
I am writing this on March 27th, but the blog post date is February 9th, because that is near when I was thinking about these words. It all makes sense to me – don’t worry.
So here is a collection of my words-of-the-moment so far, and in future I will post just one at a time.
Ok, I was about to put several more words, but the dictionary didn’t recognise my next one, so you’ll just have to wait! ( I will hunt it down, I’m sure it is real…)
In the meantime you can revel in the glory of ‘gloaming’ and ‘woad’ …
and also in this:
“Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.”
Jabberwocky – Lewis Carroll
Ah, honestly, what in the world could possibly be better?
